69th Biennial Grand Conclave

Pride in the Order:
Celebrate Kappa Sigma's Greatest Biennium

at the 69th Biennial Grand Conclave in Las Vegas, Nevada

Since 1876, Kappa Sigma brothers have come together every two years to do the work of the order, elect the fraternity leadership and to celebrate the successes of our undergraduates across North America.  This summer, Grand Conclave will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 24-28.

There is so much to celebrate in Kappa Sigma. Round up your chapter brothers and get your travel plans together.  We are excited to celebrate your success this summer in Las Vegas.

Kappa Sigma Fraternity Hosts its First-Ever International Day of Service on October 20, 2012

Kappa Sigma Fraternity today announced that it will hold an inaugural Day of Service throughout the United States and Canada on Saturday, October 20, 2012.  Thousands of college undergraduate and alumni members will volunteer their time for service projects and philanthropic fundraisers to benefit hundreds of non-profit organizations within their local communities.  Projects will range from serving meals in soup kitchens, to charity donation drives, to building homes for low-income families.
The Day of Service is the latest strategy in Kappa Sigma’s “A Greater Cause” initiative, the organization’s ongoing commitment to promote volunteerism, citizenship and service to the community.  It will be the largest single-day service project in the history of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and the first coordinated international day of service for any collegiate social fraternity.

“We hope that this event will serve as a benchmark for all other Greek organizations in their service endeavors,” said S. Christian Nascimento, President of Kappa Sigma’s International Alumni Board of Directors. “We are proud that Kappa Sigma can lead the way on more than 300 college campuses across North America in helping to make our world a better place.”

Since the launch of the A Greater Cause initiative in 2001, Kappa Sigma has achieved unprecedented levels of volunteerism and philanthropy among its members.  During the 2011-2012 academic year alone, Kappa Sigma contributed more than 470,000 volunteer service hours and donated nearly $1.8 million collectively to those in need—a Fraternity record and the most ever for a collegiate social Greek organization in a single year.

“Giving back to the community and supporting charitable endeavors is fundamental to the values of our organization,” said Nascimento.  “This duty— ‘Our Call to Service’—exemplifies the character of our undergraduate and alumni members and is an important aspect of life as a Kappa Sigma.”

New Members-Only Portal: myKappaSig

The Kappa Sigma Fraternity International Headquarters is excited to announce the rollout of a new members-only portal.  Very soon, all brothers will have access to myKappaSig, powered by OmegaFi.  Here you’ll find resources, announcements, calendar events, chapter search and much more!

Our initial rollout will involve contacting each Brother via e-mail in conjunction with OmegaFi. Registration will be easy through the login box located on our homepage at kappasigma.org, and for every brother with existing OmegaFi credentials, your logins will remain the same!  You may also link your account to Facebook, which will allow you to login with your FB name and password, see your news feed and friends.
The application is built on portal technology, which means you may “drag and drop” tools (aka widgets) to design your myKappaSig dashboard with the features that suit you best.  Chapters have communication tools to include announcements and calendar events.  Alumni can update their information, control privacy settings and access a multitude of features.  Keep your chapter roster front and center if you like, with your chapter calendar, RSS feeds and favorite links off to the side.  See what you need, when you need it.

Additionally, myKappaSig is completely integrated with our new Compass database, so updates to your account (for example, a new cell phone number) will be automatically shared with Headquarters.

We will be announcing further updates and developments over the comings days on Facebook, Twitter, and kappasigma.org.  We are truly excited about the potential for how this will network our brotherhood!

If you have questions regarding myKappaSig, please contact Systems Administrator Chad Whitaker or call the Headquarters at (434)-295-3193
